The PRT ARCHON Type B and the STRIKE One pistols are notable for their innovative design and engineering. They are particularly recognized for their performance in competitive shooting and self-defense. Let’s explore the history, design, and unique features of these firearms.

PRT ARCHON Type B

History and Origins

The ARCHON Type B is a continuation of the innovative designs initiated by Arsenal Firearms, which originally created the STRIKE One pistol. Arsenal Firearms, an Italian and Russian joint venture, aimed to design a pistol that could offer exceptional performance in terms of accuracy, durability, and reliability.

The STRIKE One was notable for its low bore axis, which reduced muzzle rise and felt recoil, making it easier to shoot accurately and rapidly. It employed the “AF-Speedlock” system, a patented locking mechanism that minimized barrel tilt and contributed to its precision .

In 2017, Archon Firearms, a U.S.-based company, acquired the rights to the design and production of the STRIKE One, rebranding and further developing it into the ARCHON Type B. The Type B retained many of the core features of its predecessor, such as the AF-Speedlock system, while also incorporating new design elements and refinements .

Design and Features

The ARCHON Type B is a semi-automatic, striker-fired pistol chambered in 9mm. One of its standout features is the low bore axis, which significantly reduces muzzle flip and felt recoil, allowing for faster follow-up shots and greater control. The AF-Speedlock system is a unique feature that differentiates the Type B from other handguns in its class. This system reduces the vertical movement of the barrel during the firing cycle, which enhances accuracy .

The pistol’s ergonomics are another highlight. The Type B features a full-sized grip with an aggressive texture, providing a secure hold even in adverse conditions. The trigger guard is undercut to allow for a higher grip, further aiding control and comfort. Additionally, the pistol is equipped with a flat-faced trigger that provides a consistent pull and crisp break, qualities favored by both competitive shooters and tactical users .

The Type B’s sights are designed for quick acquisition, with a front fiber optic sight and a serrated rear sight to reduce glare. The slide is also designed with front and rear serrations, facilitating easy manipulation .

STRIKE One

History and Origins

The STRIKE One, a predecessor to the ARCHON Type B, shares a similar heritage and design philosophy. Originating from Arsenal Firearms, the STRIKE One was designed with a focus on innovative engineering and high-performance standards. It aimed to provide shooters with a reliable and accurate pistol, leveraging the AF-Speedlock technology .

Design and Features

Like the Type B, the STRIKE One is a 9mm semi-automatic, striker-fired pistol. It features the AF-Speedlock system, contributing to its reputation for accuracy. The pistol’s design emphasizes a low bore axis, ergonomic grip, and a durable frame, often constructed from high-quality polymer materials .

The STRIKE One’s design is slightly more conventional compared to the Type B, with less aggressive styling and a more traditional trigger. However, it still maintains the core characteristics of the series, such as ease of handling, reliability, and accuracy .

Archon Type B Holsters

The evolution of PTR Archon Type B Holsters will happen slowly, but are on the radar as PTR Archon Firearms grow in popularity in the united states. If you’re looking for PTR Archon Type B Holsters, look no further than ANR DESIGN.

Comparison and Conclusion

Both the ARCHON Type B and the STRIKE One represent the evolution of modern handgun design, combining innovative technologies like the AF-Speedlock system with practical features that appeal to both competitive and tactical shooters. Their low bore axis and ergonomic features make them stand out in the crowded field of 9mm pistols.

The primary differences between the two lie in their ergonomic refinements and feature sets, with the Type B offering more advanced features such as a flat-faced trigger and fiber optic sights. The STRIKE One, while slightly more traditional, still provides exceptional performance and reliability.

Overall, these pistols are a testament to the advancements in firearm technology and design, catering to the needs of modern shooters who demand accuracy, reliability, and ease of use. They reflect a growing trend in the firearms industry towards enhancing user experience through thoughtful engineering and innovation.

  1. I have an Achon B with a Holosun 407C and a Surefire X300V light.
The surefire light is a bit wider at the bezel as it is an infrared and Whitelight and slightly larger that the Surefire X300U.
I am looking for an OWB Right handed holster to accommodate the above.

    1. V isn’t wider. The Bezel is more narrow and longer. We might be able to if you contact our customer service.
