FN 5.7 MRD MK3T

Archives

FN just released the FN 5.7 MRD MK3T! ANR is here to the rescue with our very own holsters for the FN 5.7 MRD MK3T. The holsters will be live on the FN E-store very soon (https://fnestore.com/pistol-holsters). They just finished production and should be live in days. We were so lucky to be part of the holster development for this platform. It’s great FN decided to re-release a MRD version of the FN 5.7 MRD MK3T. The capabilities of the 5.7 pistol are pretty awesome. The 5.7 cartridge is very accurate out of the pistol out to 100 yards, with very little drop. Adding a MRDS to the platform is a game changer for accuracy over distance.

Holsters for the FN 5.7 MRD MK3T

FN E-store will release the holsters that are FN branded, but if black and labeled is not your flavor of KYDEX holster, we have you covered. Here is the link (https://www.anrkydexholsters.com/product/quick-ship-standard-outside-the-waistband-holster/). We have it on our QUICK SHIP KYDEX Holster builder for your selection of FN 5.7 MRD MK3T KYDEX Holsters. This is a classic “pancake holster” styled OWB KYDEX Holster. We will be releasing a Nidhogg style holster and AIWB for the FN 5.7 MRD MK3T.

This is a BREIF table top review of the FN 5.7 MRD MK3T versus the FN 5.7. A lot of the features are very similar to the older FN 5.7. It just has a new look, feel, with some better capabilities!

FN 5.7 MRD MK3T Grip Texture

The ergonomics of the FN 5.7 MRD MK3T and grip texturing has been greatly enhanced. It makes this gun a dream to shoot over the original FN 5.7. The grip is so much more comfortable and user friendly, and there is no chance you would loose grip on this gun.

FN 5.7 MRD MK3 Grip Texturing

Similar and Different. Essentially where the original FN 5.7 is smooth, the FN 5.7 MRD MK3T has the randomized stipple you would see on the FN 509 series pistols where the thumb rest is on the polymer frame.

FN 5.7 MRD MK3T Optic Plate

The optic plate is a GREAT feature. This gun needed it. It makes it so much more useful and accurate over distance. We approve! Not much to say here about optic mounting, other than, drop a DPP on this gun and you have a fantastic pistol with great capabilities. We have Leupold Delta Point Pro optics for sales at (https://www.anrkydexholsters.com/product/leupold-deltapoint-pro/).

FN 5.7 MRD MK3T Slide Changes and Cocking Serrations

The slide cocking serrations are okay. I greatly prefer the original texture of the FN 5.7. FN 5.7 MRD MK3T slide serrations are not very deep or aggressively textured. The polymer of the FN 5.7 MRD MK3T is smooth. If the gun was wet or (bloody?) the slide cocking serrations could pose a challenge when press checking or cocking. The FN 5.7 MRD MK3T with optic mounted is very easy to use as a cocking surface to hold onto or you can always use the sling shot tabs in the back of the slide. We ultimately think the front cocking serrations of the FN 5.7 MRD MK3T are purely aesthetic over hard-use functional.

FN 5.7 MRD MK3T Magazines

The FN 5.7 MRD MK3T magazines have a different baseplate. They fit in the original FN 5.7 but the FN 5.7 magazines do not fit in the FN 5.7 MRD MK3T.

FN 5.7 MRD MK3T Sights

The FN 5.7 MRD MK3T has slightly upgraded factory sights. They are a hair higher in the rear and have replaced the white paint with luminescence painted sights. They do glow brightly for 5-6 hours after being in direct sunlight, and still have a touch of glow after it has dissipated. They are definitely an upgrade.

  1. I’m look to buy a holster for the MK3 FN 5.7

      1. That’s for a 509. Also, you said that the old 5.7 magazine does not fit in the new 5.7. Yes it actually does

        1. Didn’t fit ours because of the geometry of the base pad not allowing lockup on the Mk3.
