Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 First Impressions

Archives
The Difference Between the M&P M2.0 Metal Carry Comp and the S&W Bodyguard 2.0.

The Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 is a wild little blaster. Comically pint-sized, but surprisingly comfortable and high capacity. The slide is beautifully textured and aggressive to be able to grip the tiny thing. The recoil is very manageable. The ergonomics are on par with the M&P 2.0 series, and the Bodyguard 2.0 is lightyears ahead of the original Bodyguard 380.

Size of the S&W Bodyguard 2.0

The Bodyguard 2.0 is a wild size. The Bodyguard 2.0 doesn’t feel real. I say that because the Bodyguard 2.0 is a ratioed version of the S&W M&P 2.0. It literally feels like a toy gun that mimics the S&W M&P 2.0 comically. The toy gun comment does not mean the Bodyguard 2.0 feels cheap, which it doesn’t, it just is a fun-sized version! For how comically small it is, super comfortable to shoot. It will be a very small gun to carry. There will be a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Appendix with Claw holster soon from ANR Design.

Trigger and Grip of the S&W Bodyguard 2.0

The Bodyguard 2.0 trigger is quite nice for such a small .380 ACP semi-auto pistol. The trigger is bar none, the cleanest .380 trigger on a polymer framed .380, we’ve ever shot. It definitely has a better trigger than the factory Sig P365 380. The grip of the Bodyguard 2.0 is equally as nice. It contours the ergonomics of the full size M&P line of pistols. The pinky extension on the magazine gives a full grip to the largest of hands.

Sights and Capacity of the S&W Bodyguard 2.0

The Bodyguard 2.0 fosters iron sights with an XS styled large front dot on the front iron, with a large U-notch blacked out iron rear sight. The U-notch is perfect for up close shots, but a bit more encumbering at distance. The Bodyguard 2.0 U-notch rear sight is quite large and hard to get the front sight buried and centered for a longer distanced shot, but that was not why this little guy was designed.

The Bodyguard 2.0 came with two magazines, a 10 round and a 12 round magazine. The 12 round magazine was impossible to load all 12 rounds. No matter how hard we tried, we could only seat 11 rounds. Wondering if the pinky extension interface is taking up the room for the 12th round.

Conclusion of the S&W Bodyguard 2.0

The Bodyguard 2.0 is a neat little gun. It has a decent payload capacity of 10 & 12 round magazines. Unparalleled ergonomics for a .380 ACP. The Bodyguard 2.0 has a decent trigger, good sights, and an aggressive slide. We think Smith & Wesson knocked it out of the park with the Bodyguard 2.0.
