Welcome to the first installment of the Backstage EDC series, where we explore the everyday carry (EDC) setups of the ANR Designs team. My name is Jeff, and I work in the assembly department. In this series, I’ll break down the firearms we carry daily and explain the thought process behind each specific setup we’ve chosen. Today, I’ll start by sharing my personal EDC choices and the reasoning behind them.
My Current Carry Setup
I alternate between two main firearms depending on my destination and activities: the Shadow Systems MR920 and the Glock 42. Here’s a closer look at each:
Shadow Systems MR920
This is my go-to firearm for most occasions. The MR920 offers a 15+1 capacity, making it ideal for times when I need to carry more rounds. It comes equipped with a Holosun 507c x2 optic, but otherwise, the gun is mostly stock. I find its capacity and reliability make it a solid choice for my primary carry.
Glock 42
On days when deeper concealment is necessary, I opt for the Glock 42, Glock’s smallest platform. I’ve upgraded this pistol for better performance and personalization:
- Lone Wolf Arms threaded barrel for improved accuracy and future suppressor capability.
- CMC Triggers aftermarket trigger for a smoother and crisper trigger pull.
- DPM Systems recoil reduction system for enhanced recoil control.
These modifications improve performance while keeping the Glock 42 compact and easy to conceal.
Holsters and Carry Positions
Choosing the right holster is just as important as selecting the firearm itself. Here’s how I carry:
Shadow Systems MR920 Holster
For the MR920, I prefer carrying in the appendix position using a Daisho Sidecar holster. I rotate between two Daisho Sidecar holsters based on my needs:
- One holster features an extra magazine attachment for additional ammo.
- The other incorporates a custom knife from Losty Co. Knives.
Both holsters are equipped with the Neomag Alias system, which provides a low-profile, secure attachment method for comfortable daily carry.
Glock 42 Holster
For the Glock 42, I also carry appendix style using a custom-molded holster modified for optimal concealment. This holster features an Ulti-Clip, which allows me to securely tuck in my shirt while still carrying discreetly. This setup is perfect for situations where deep concealment is required, such as formal settings.
Conclusion
My EDC setup is all about balancing practicality and versatility to suit my needs. Whether it’s the high-capacity Shadow Systems MR920 for everyday use or the ultra-concealable Glock 42 for specific situations, each component of my EDC has been carefully chosen. Stay tuned for more in the Backstage EDC series as we dive into the carry setups of other ANR Designs team members.
