We have had the unique opportunity to be hands-on with this pistol as far back as early spring, when we were tasked with making holsters to help the academy instructors provide feedback to corporate on the design. We were building holsters around 3D-printed grips before we even knew what the final production models would look like.

Sig Sauer P385 Inspiration
The P385-FULL is a blend of the SIG P365 Fuse with key elements from the P320 platform—though it is far more refined than a simple hybrid. It is a exceptionally well-thought-out, yet impressively straightforward firearm that ticks the boxes for a general-purpose, slimline duty or carry gun.

SIG P385 Holsters
Naturally, we made sure to have our entire suite of holsters ready to go at launch—including inside-the-waistband (IWB), outside-the-waistband (OWB), and our Sidecar-style Daishō models. We also offer dedicated fits for the Streamlight TLR-7/HLX and SureFire X300 weapon lights.

The SIG P385 Grip Module and It’s Modularity
The P385 features an aggressive grip texture that uses a laser-stippled style, polygonal Celtic knot design, injection molded grip module. The grips are modular and available in multiple lengths, including a full-length dust cover variant specific to the full-size integrated-compensated model. The grip module itself is segmented, allowing you to change lengths between a dedicated concealed carry setup and a full-size duty configuration.

The integrated magwell is simple to remove—much like SIG’s other recent offerings—using a single set screw accessible through the inside of the backstrap once locked in place.
The magazine release is deeply knurled and tactile, finished in a coarse Nitron coating.

For accessory mounting, rail configurations vary by model: the standard full-size model uses a shorter dust cover, while the 4-inch model, the SIG P385-CARRY features a flush-fit dust cover with three Picatinny slots. The SIG P385-FULL model with the extended full-length dust cover gives you four Picatinny slots.
P385’s Unique Trigger Shoe Design
The trigger is easily the most impressive mechanical feature on this pistol. The P385 trigger utilizes a sprung outer shoe paired with a fixed-position safety tab—the exact inverse of a traditional striker-fired tabbed trigger. While many shooters dislike conventional safety tabs, they remain the preferred choice for duty and military contracts due to legal and liability standards. SIG engineered a clever design that lets them have their cake and eat it too.

Because of this layout, the shooter does not have to actively depress a central blade to pull the trigger; however, if the trigger shoe is pressed from the outer edge, it disconnects from the fire control mechanism. This provides a clean, consistent press with zero initial tab resistance, and it completely eliminates the dreaded “trigger pinch” where a safety blade grabs the pad of your finger under high round counts.

The P385 Beaver Tail Design
Basic and clean gets the job done.

The beavertail is minimal yet monstrously effective. It features a short overhang with a generous undercut, domed on the underside to prevent sharp contact points or hotspots. Its smooth, semi-circular profile eliminates snag points on draw strokes—specifically preventing the webbing between your thumb and index finger from binding—and its short length prevents it from digging into your abdomen during appendix carry.

SIG P385 Slide Stop and Takedown Lever
The takedown lever features aggressive, angled top knurling and doubles naturally as a thumb ledge (gas pedal). The compensated version actually comes with an upgraded, dedicated gas-pedal-style takedown lever, which can be swapped into both the full-size and carry models. Our holsters accommodate both takedown lever variants out of the box.

The P386 Barrel
The barrels are a heavy bull-barrel profile. Because we were testing early pre-production prototypes, our units lacked some of the retail accessories. However, production models are scheduled to ship with a backup tuner spring kit, allowing you to fine-tune recoil dynamics based on the ammo grain weight you run. Even without tuning, the soft-shooting feel of this gun is surprising—felt recoil impulse is remarkably manageable, even when running higher-pressure, stouter defense loads.

The P385 is subtle, functional engineering at its finest. It addresses real-world feedback from previous platforms and implements understated, high-yield design revisions to create a slimline duty pistol that hits every mark for both civilian and law enforcement applications. At a launch MSRP of $599, it enters the market as a staggering value proposition.
